Survivorman Sierra Nevada
by Dave Johnson
Wow, what a way to start the season. I like the direction of the new Survivorman episodes. The main thing I liked about the new episode was, Les decided to take on the role of the hiker instead of just telling about what a normal person might do. A good example of this is the first episode of Survivorman where Les has to survive in the Canadian Boreal Forest. About half way through Les tells about bush panic and how people will just run as fast as they can thinking that just around the turn is the trail they lost, which is further from the truth. With the new episode in the Sierra Nevada’s Les demonstrated the panic that can set in when you become lost. The other thing I liked was including SAR (search and rescue) in an episode. Les Stroud demonstrated how to help SAR find you. He did this by getting out into an open area and using a signal mirror to get the helicopters attention.
It was a perfect episode to start off the season and hopfully there will be another season to come, but I found a link that says otherwise from Reuters.com (Story Here). After Reading the article I thought to myself “well the end was inevitable, but I thought it would have lasted longer then 3 season. now we’re going to be stuck with gay attention whore bear grylls.”
Red Bull Rampage 2008 on NBC
by Dave Johnson
The Red Bull Rampage will be Televised on NBC’s Jeep World of Adventure Sports tomorrow at 3:00pm EST 1:00pm for all of us mountain timers. Anyways In case you didn’t know I made it to the finals of the Red Bull Rampage In Virgin, UT. It was one of the best events I’ve been to and if you tune in the only thing you’ll be disappointed about is that it was only an hour long. It was a super crazy event. Be sure to set the Recorder because you don’t want to miss this. There is tons of crashes, sweet 360′s, and lets not forget about the best trick from Thomas Vanderham with his no hander over the 60ft canyon Jump.
Survivorman season 3 starts
by Dave Johnson
As some of you may know and most of you don’t I’m a survival geek. For me it all started one day back in 2006 I was flipping through the channels and I saw something that looked very familiar on the Discovery Channel. What I saw was a lot of red rock that looked like my area, but in fact it was 300 miles away but that got me interested In a show called Survivorman. soon after that episode ended I got online and found a site for Survivorman fans. The site was Lesstroudonline.com so I joined and from there I was hooked on survival. but the les stroud forums have been shut down for a long time now mostly do to spammers and poor moderation. So now I’m at Wildsurvive.com which has some of the greatest people you could ever meet talking about survival and gear. I have gained great knowledge from everyone at wildsurve.com and Les Stroud.
Theking648 is now SilverCG.com
by Dave Johnson
Yes it’s true, I’ve crossed over to the other side. Theking648.com started out as a toy for trying to learn how to code XHTML and CSS and has now evolved into a blog. When I picked the domain name I couldn’t think of anything better then my internet name. Now that I’ve gotten a little bit wiser I can now plainly see that this wasn’t the best name especially for SEO, and for those that don’t know SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. also very few people are going to remember the three numbers on the end. I have a hard time myself, but the time has come to move on. So SilverCG.com has been sitting around for a year now, actully a year this Saturday. Anyways I’ve made the decision to transfer my blog over to this website. This time I’m going to use WordPress, an opensource CMS (Content Management System) rather than my custom CMS. That way it is much easier to add content even when I don’t have time.
Thanks for your continued support,
Dave Johnson
also know as and always will be Theking648
